National Bestseller

National Bestseller is an ongoing project happening on a bi-weekly basis in NYC Phonebooths. Each piece is created using a single national bestseller or popular modern title. This book is then released of its spine and wheat pasted back together into a single sheet. For every 9 regular pieces I put up there will be a tenth like the one pictured below. These images, accompanied by a red treatment serve as a counting system for what will surely be a large project. If you see a red one, know there are probably 9 others nearby.

This project has been put on hold for the time being as I work on a secret project that is taking up much of my time. You can view all 50 phone kiosk pieces here.

Looks like crap! Why is ok for you to have your shitty art in phone booths but not an advertiser which in most cases I would rather see than your art that looks like someone was shot in front of the phone booth the night before?

Outdoor Advertising is NOT a cancer Bill.

It is a viable media form and industry that keeps many people employed, educated and notified; as well as being the oldest media form in the world.

Doing what they are doing isnt free expressed art. It is illegal and vandalisim.

Do I agree that illegal signage should be removed? Absolutely! But defacing privately owned permitted structures that advertisers and consumers utilize on daily basis is cowardace and costly.

You may want to speak to your council persons and/or city leaders if you are unhappy about advertisments in specific areas.

I think you will also be surprised how much money these media companies pay to the city and municipalities to get outdoor signage in specific areas leagalized. Which in turn helps cut costs for city and state operating budgets.

If you dont like the advertisements, then don't look at them. Just like turning the channel on TV or Radio.
